New in comics...
This week are Stephen King's "The Dark Tower" and an adaptation of Laurell K. Hamilton's "Anita Blake Vampire Hunter" books. The guys at the comic store say the graphic novels are drawing in scads of "civilians" to try out the books.

Ugh, sounds like the guy at my local comics store. I'm a long-time reader of a few dark comics (Lenore is my favorite), and yet I look like any other normal mom. Yet every time I go in to this particular store looking for a comic, the guy's always contradicting me. "That didn't come out yet. Are you *sure*? I really don't think so." (uh, yeah, guy- it came out two months ago!!) Needless to say, I don't shop there anymore.

Wow, I didn't mean to rant!

I'm totally calling around for the DT comic tomorrow. I'm a HUGE fan of the books. I saw a signed copy of #1 for $30, but I'm not sure I'm going to buy it-- I actually read the things, so I'd have to unseal it. And there's the thing on buying a $30 comic that's keeping me from doing it, too...

My comic dealer is actually quite kind to those he believes to be civillians. He's more interested in growing new customers that showing people he knows more than they do. From my experience with my husband selling comics at flea market half or more of the customers are women. Horror seems to be especially big with women, as does Wolverine of the X-Men.
